Learning Journal
Name: Heather Airey
Module: Tool
This module introduced to two new programs: Inspiration and
WebWhacker. I found Inspiration to have greater potential to
either review a previous topic or to introduce a new topic by giving
students a way to present the concepts that are included in the topic
and illustrate which concepts are directly linked to each other.
It was a challenge to produce a PowerPoint
presentation that dealt with a mathematical concept. Many times
students have questions about math concepts that must be dealt with
immediately that would require interrupting the flow of a
presentation. I have done PowerPoint presentations for another
class (Forensic Psychology). These presentations had a more
formal feel and a question and answer period following the main
presentation.
Oppenheimer’s “Computer Delusion” was interesting
reading and food for thought. While it was written as more of a
persuasive essay rather then a factual research paper, he did present
areas that should be of concern to educators trying to implement
technology tools in the classroom.
